Special report: A new climate
The world's biggest polluter is investing in renewables but is also opening new coal plants.
Chinese coal plants previously thought to have been cancelled or postponed by Beijing are back under construction, apparently in violation of central government restrictions.
New data, provided exclusively to Sky News by Global Energy Monitor, an NGO, shows that 16,890 megawatts of new coal power capacity has been commissioned in China in 2019 alone.
